About The Position

Banner Engineering is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer III to join our Functional Safety group. This role is a hands-on research and development position focused on product design, contributing to the development of new product concepts. The engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary and highly technical team, collaborating with peers to prototype and develop cutting-edge functional safety products. Responsibilities span all stages of product development, from initial technology evaluation and prototype design to successful product release and addressing field issues. This position is located at Banner's corporate headquarters in Plymouth, MN, and requires a 5-day per week, in-office presence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design as a design lead
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Effective working experience with analog / small signal and embedded systems design
  • Proficiency with relevant circuit design software tools including schematic capture, PCB layout, and SPICE / simulation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with test & measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, spectrum analyzers, custom test platforms, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, work in a collaborative team environment, and take initiative on design choices
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey ideas to others, both verbally and in written formats
  • Functional experience with an ERP system during development

  • Working understanding of microcontrollers / microprocessors

Responsibilities

  • Design and modify analog and digital circuits for industrial safety products.
  • Serve as a project manager and overall technical lead on smaller projects.
  • Create electrical designs ensuring the products meet the intended requirements.
  • Manage product documentation including bill of materials (BOMs), design verification reports, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Collaborate with optical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to provide globally competitive products.
