About The Position

NELSON is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II (PE) to join our Electrical Engineering team. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and industry experience to lead electrical design efforts and develop innovative solutions for a diverse client base. A successful candidate will provide electrical engineering design services for facility and infrastructure projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and secondary electrical systems. Responsibilities will include developing conceptual and detailed designs, preparing specifications, calculations, studies, and reports, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting construction administration activities. Under general supervision, the Electrical Engineer II will apply engineering principles, applicable codes, and industry standards to deliver high-quality design solutions while effectively leading electrical design efforts on small to moderate projects and providing guidance to entry-level engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer License (PE) in Electrical Engineering required
• Experience providing facility Electrical System design services required
• BS graduate in Engineering from an ABET accredited school required
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in building design of power, lighting, fire alarm and secondary electrical systems

Nice To Haves

• Experience with medium voltage electrical design preferred
• Experience with power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower preferred
• Experience with creating construction specifications preferred
• Experience with use of 3D BIM/Drafting/Modeling tools for creation of design deliverables is preferred
• Proficiency with Autodesk REVIT 3D modeling preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide design support on facility and infrastructure design projects under general supervision from more senior staff
• Effectively leads electrical design efforts on small to moderate projects. Works with entry level engineers and designers.
• Study design criteria, codes, and standards and incorporate required design practices into production of design deliverables
• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for facilities and infrastructure projects based on scope of project, design criteria and applicable codes and standards
• Assist with gathering field data to support development of design deliverables
• Review and observe construction progress on projects to verify compliance with design deliverables (e.g. RFI responses, progress observation reports, etc.)
• Duties to include specifications, calculations, studies, reports, shop drawing review, construction administration
• Coordinate with other designers and technicians of other disciplines to complete assignments
• Attend client meetings to discuss facility infrastructure needs
• Work within a team coordinating with other trades and designers
