Designs, develops, and tests electrical and/or electronic equipment, components, circuits, or systems. Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs. Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. Job Description The Electrical Engineer II will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative electronics solutions to meet customer needs. The Electrical Engineer II may work in a number of specialist areas including low noise preamps, high speed digital telemetry, digital signal processing, and RF design. Design, implement, maintain configuration management and test maintainable hardware and firmware systems in accordance with the company’s procedure and project specific requirements. Preparing or reviewing typical design documentation (design requirements, schematics, board layouts, technical specifications, and data sheets) Troubleshooting both PCBs and systems using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters. Preparing or review engineering deliverables for existing and new electrical system design modifications/upgrades/replacements Preparing cost estimates or cooperating appropriately with others responsible for reporting the estimate. Apply independent diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices Provide coaching and guidance to and check work of junior engineers, technologists or technicians Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles
  • Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Underwater Acoustics
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering (>3 years) commercial or military type electronics desirable
  • Familiarity with electronic lab equipment
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience of Maritime Domain (desirable)
  • Experience of Underwater Warfare Domain (desirable)
  • Analog and digital design
  • Embedded microcontroller design (ARM-based microcontrollers or DSP-based systems)
  • Experience with peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART, etc.
  • OrCAD Capture, Pspice, and PCB designer
  • C language programming for embedded systems
  • FPGA design using VHDL
  • Network communication - Fiber Optic Ethernet ATM SONET
  • A team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goals
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude, with capability to mentor others
  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to details
  • Willing to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Familiar with formal project design process and documentation
  • Willingness to travel within Canada, US and Overseas
  • Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 2+ years of related experience or a recognized apprenticeship.
