About The Position

ACCIONA Energía is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to support the design, engineering, and commissioning of utility-scale photovoltaic and wind energy facilities. This role focuses primarily on Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical systems, including collection systems, feeders, grounding systems, electrical equipment, and associated balance-of-plant systems. The Electrical Engineer II will provide technical expertise throughout project development, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energization. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables meet technical, safety, quality, schedule, and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in utility or power plant design preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of LV and MV electrical systems, electrical engineering principles, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC, UL, and utility requirements preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and optimize electrical designs for utility-scale wind and PV projects, focusing on LV/MV collection systems, feeders, grounding, substations, and electrical BOP systems.
  • Perform and review electrical studies, including load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, cable ampacity, voltage drop, and grounding.
  • Develop and maintain electrical design criteria, specifications, and technical requirements in accordance with company standards, NEC, IEEE, NESC, UL, and utility requirements.
  • Evaluate and select major electrical equipment and materials, including MV switchgear, transformers, cables, reclosers, auxiliary transformers, and other electrical BOP equipment; perform technical bid evaluations and review vendor submittments.
  • Provide technical support across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M, coordinating with contractors, OEMs, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve electrical issues, track deliverables, and support project execution.
  • Support construction, testing, commissioning, backfeed, first energization, and facility startup, including equipment inspection and on-site engineering support.
  • Support Safety in Design, QA/QC, Non-Conformity, and quality activities and ensure engineering work complies with applicable standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
