About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to support the definition and specification of next-generation 300 mm wafer-level substrate processing equipment. This role focuses on early-stage electrical architecture, safety systems, and tool-level control concepts. As an Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for designing, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings to advance the equipment that supports our technology. Using your technical experience and critical thinking skills, you will perform engineering analysis, generate test reports, develop innovative solutions, and create documentation for product releases. You will also coordinate the procurement and assembly of components, identify sources of critical parts, and resolve technical issues to ensure peak performance.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2-4 years of industry experience (New Graduate Applicants will NOT be considered)
  • Fundamental knowledge of industrial controls (PLC, sensors, interlocks)
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards (SEMI, NFPA preferred)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with semiconductor equipment or industrial tools
  • Exposure to system-level architecture definition

Responsibilities

  • Define electrical architecture for 300 mm processing equipment
  • Develop: Power distribution concepts
  • Tool interlock and safety systems (SEMI S2 alignment)
  • High-level I/O and control system definitions
  • Support system-level design reviews and hazard analyses
  • Interface with mechanical, systems, and vendor teams on subsystem integration
  • Contribute to early specifications and design documentation
  • Designing, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings to advance the equipment that supports our technology.
  • Perform engineering analysis, generate test reports, develop innovative solutions, and create documentation for product releases.
