About The Position

Outpost Technologies is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer 1 to create unique solutions for complex problems across aerospace, defense, and advanced technology applications. The Candidate will support the development of Outpost Technologies' electrical systems and designs for defense, space, and commercial projects. The Candidate will help create wiring schematics and layouts, attend program meetings, support milestone reviews, and produce high-quality documentation products. The Candidate will be responsible for learning and applying sound electrical engineering principles in the development of circuits, wiring assemblies, enclosures, and component integrations. The Candidate must also learn to report technical, schedule, and budgetary risk to management. Communication skills are strongly desired. The Candidate must be self-motivated and produce excellent work that exceeds customer expectations. The Candidate must always present a professional demeanor while representing Outpost Technologies to customers and stakeholders. The posted compensation range represents the expected pay range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the stated range based on factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized expertise, geographic considerations, market conditions, and alignment with internal compensation structures and government contracting requirements.

Requirements

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Candidate must have 0–5 years of Electrical Engineering experience. Graduate degrees, military service, or technical accreditations/certifications may be substituted for experience years where applicable.
  • Candidate must have introductory-level familiarity with basic electrical principles, including Ohm's Law and circuit analysis.
  • Candidate must have introductory-level experience with reading and interpreting electrical schematics or blueprints.
  • Candidate must be a resident of or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama Area.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD software for electrical design (e.g., Altium)
  • Familiarity with industry standards for cable and wire harness assemblies and enclosures
  • Experience with common tools and equipment such as multimeters, crimping tools, soldering irons, and wire strippers
  • Experience with prototyping and testing electrical systems
  • Certification in electronics assembly (e.g., IPC-A-610) or relevant safety training (e.g., OSHA electrical safety)
  • Basic programming knowledge for embedded systems or PLC integration (e.g., Ladder Logic)

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of basic wiring schematics and layouts for electrical systems.
  • Learn to select appropriate connectors, wiring, and components based on project requirements, including voltage, current, and environmental factors.
  • Assist in the assembly and testing of electrical enclosures, including wiring, mounting components, and ensuring proper grounding and shielding.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems into larger assemblies.
  • Support troubleshooting and basic modifications to existing electrical setups.
  • Document designs, assemblies, and test results in accordance with engineering standards.
  • Support prototyping and production activities, adhering to safety protocols and quality guidelines.
