About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer I, focusing on Active Implantable Hardware Design for the New Product Development and Sustaining team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering background with a bachelor's degree or higher in Physics or a closely related Biomedical field.
  • Proficiency using lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum/signal/logic analyzers for design and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Working knowledge of medical device engineering; conceptual, practical and technical and/or functional knowledge of principles and theories of board level electrical engineering and general understanding of related job functions.
  • Be a “self-starter” and willing to reach out to cross-functional team members to facilitate design decisions
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • Create protocols, automate tests, general experience in Perl, Python, HTML, scripting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, debugs, modifies and tests electrical circuits and systems by using current tools, analysis techniques and technologies.
  • Investigates, researches, and selects electronic circuits, components, tools, and equipment using best practices.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Documents electrical development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.
  • Participate in solving engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and verifies requirements, circuits, and systems by using engineering practices.
  • Investigates, researches, and selects electronic circuits, components, tools, equipment, and practices.
  • Participates in and successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation.
  • Designs, procures, and fabricates tooling and fixtures.
  • May perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems related to design, material, or process.
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Evaluating advanced and integrated technologies using both analytical and bench testing approaches.
