About The Position

RTX is seeking an Electrical Engineer I within the Resilient Connectivity Products Hardware Engineering Department in Mission Systems. This Engineer is responsible for Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and will design and develop digital hardware used in high performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role may be eligible for relocation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. (non-dual) citizenship is required, as only U.S. (non-dual) citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Electronics coursework, laboratory, or projects of electronics design.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical circuit design concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of digital electronics (e.g. processors, FPGAs, CPLDs, and/or Microcontrollers, etc.), design principles and techniques.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs.
  • Familiarity with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, Multisim, etc.) for creation of circuit card designs.
  • Experience with electrical circuits that contain digital electronics such as processors, FPGAs, CPLDs, and/or Microcontrollers.
  • Experience with generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of the design.
  • Familiarity with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Test Equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit card Design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.
  • Design, document, verify, support, test and troubleshoot digital hardware for communication products using electrical engineering principles and techniques.
  • Designs may include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of Engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.
  • Help deliver quality next-generation hardware products to customers that meet the needs of an ever-evolving environment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects impacting deadlines and goals.
