About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Electrical Engineer (Buildings) for our Denver or Greenwood Village, CO offices. Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Our Denver Buildings Group works on a range of large and small projects and focuses heavily on Healthcare, Science & Technology, Higher Education and Commercial projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering standards and codes (NEC), building codes (ICC) and energy codes (IECC).
  • Ability to utilize innovative analytical techniques in solving complex technical problems.
  • Coordinates and manages tasks within larger projects.
  • Proficient with Revit.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to project sites.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Works toward developing solid client relationships.
  • Team Player – Responsive, reliable, and collaborative.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex new construction, renovation, and electrical infrastructure projects including review and approval of electrical infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes for various project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various electrical design requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding touch and step potentials, short circuit study, overcurrent protective device coordination, one-line diagram development, and protective relaying.
  • Lead MEP engineering projects including preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, supervising subcontractors, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, and technical calculations.
  • Develop and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and updating electrical infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, concepts, and recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and leadership project members with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
