About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing Building Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that support Federal agencies, Department of Defense missions, and other critical infrastructure programs across the country. As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, and building systems professionals to deliver innovative electrical design solutions for complex facilities and infrastructure projects. While the primary focus of this role will be supporting Federal and DoD clients, you will also have opportunities to work on projects within the Life Sciences, Education, Healthcare, Industrial, and Commercial markets. The ideal candidate is passionate about engineering, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is eager to grow their technical expertise while contributing to projects that make a meaningful difference for government and community stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical Engineering emphasis.
  • 5+ years of related electrical engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Understanding of building systems and coordination among design disciplines, clients, and construction teams.
  • Experience with electrical engineering software such as SKM, EasyPower, AGi32, or ElumTools.
  • Familiarity with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, grounding, and specialty systems for Federal, DoD, and facility-based projects.
  • Perform engineering analysis, calculations, evaluations, and system modeling to support project objectives and client requirements.
  • Prepare construction documents, engineering reports, specifications, and technical design packages.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop coordinated and constructible design solutions.
  • Research and evaluate products and equipment to support project requirements and operational goals.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with clients, project managers, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with site investigations, field assessments, construction support, and commissioning activities.
  • Review project requirements and technical standards to ensure compliance with applicable codes and Federal agency criteria.
  • Support proposal development, qualifications packages, and technical presentations for new project opportunities.
  • Utilize engineering and design technologies including Revit, BIM platforms, and industry-standard electrical analysis software.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
  • Travel occasionally to support project meetings, site visits, and client engagements.
