About The Position

Join The Naval Nuclear Laboratory's (NNL) Moored Training Ship (MTS) Hardware Engineering Team! NNL develops and supports the world's most advanced hardware-based simulators for U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. These simulators are essential for training, qualifying, and maintaining the proficiency of U.S. Navy sailors. As a member of the MTS Hardware Engineering team, you will: Provide engineering support for state-of-the-art, high-fidelity engine room and reactor plant control room submarine simulators. Participate in the design, construction, testing, and delivery of next-generation nuclear propulsion plant simulators. Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure mission-critical training for U.S. Navy sailors.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
  • All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
  • All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Engineering degrees are preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control systems, especially in simulation or automation environments.
  • Familiarity with single board computers (such as Raspberry Pi) or microcontrollers (such as Arduino) for hardware prototyping or system integration.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent electrical design software for schematic creation and system layout.
  • Candidates with related technical experience or a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
