The Electrical Engineer 2 role with the Department of Corrections (DOC) allows you to make a meaningful impact on essential infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer 2 supports a wide range of engineering needs that help correctional institutions operate effectively. This position applies professional engineering principles to design systems, review project materials, and assist in resolving electrical issues.

Requirements

  • One year as an Electrical Engineer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Two years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system; and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; or Two years of professional electrical engineering experience which required work on any structural electrical system, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of design data, specifications, and drawings for construction projects in alignment with codes and engineering practices
  • Conduct project site surveys, gather details, and prepare reports with observations and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with staff, design professionals, and code officials across multiple disciplines
  • Review drawings, specifications, reports, and submittments and submit recommendations for approval
  • Support the development of solutions for electrical issues involving design, construction, maintenance, or operations
  • Participate in inspections that evaluate system performance, project compliance, and construction progress
