About The Position

The Computing Products Department in Collins Aerospace’s Avionics business unit develops and sustains avionics hardware, including integrated processing cabinets, video processing modules, network products, and control panels for commercial and military aircraft. This entry-level role focuses on developing digital hardware for high-performance computing products, such as processing computers and network switch products for commercial avionics platforms. The position is onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Electrical Engineer applies electrical engineering principles to design, develop, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot digital hardware for avionics products. The role collaborates with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Environmental Effects Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, and Design-to-Cost staff to ensure requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle. Designs may use digital logic (ASIC/FPGA/CPLD), processors, and memory technologies. The engineer may also support production issues as needed. The role offers exposure to hardware development across requirements capture, design, integration, verification, factory transition, and customer interface, along with access to Collins Aerospace communities of practice for learning and networking.
