This position provides vocational instruction that helps inmate students at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene learn electrical skills and safety practices in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in Electricity
- Education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in Electricity (if no approved apprenticeship period)
- Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Instructional Certificate I or II for Electricity
- Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for Electricity
- Eligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for Electricity
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Meet the PA residency requirement
- Able to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
Responsibilities
- Adapt curriculum materials based on assessment results to match learner needs
- Provide classroom and shop teaching for residential and commercial electrical occupations and include construction industry safety training
- Update and maintain education, attendance, inventory, and payroll records following DOC and SCI procedures
- Order classroom supplies, materials, and equipment according to required procedures and deadlines
- Monitor student conduct, apply classroom rules, and take corrective action when needed
