About The Position

This position provides vocational instruction that helps inmate students at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene learn electrical skills and safety practices in both classroom and laboratory settings.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in Electricity
  • Education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in Electricity (if no approved apprenticeship period)
  • Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Instructional Certificate I or II for Electricity
  • Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for Electricity
  • Eligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for Electricity
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Adapt curriculum materials based on assessment results to match learner needs
  • Provide classroom and shop teaching for residential and commercial electrical occupations and include construction industry safety training
  • Update and maintain education, attendance, inventory, and payroll records following DOC and SCI procedures
  • Order classroom supplies, materials, and equipment according to required procedures and deadlines
  • Monitor student conduct, apply classroom rules, and take corrective action when needed

Benefits
