About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Phoenix, Arizona office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Analyst with 3+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. This role involves the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale substation projects. The position requires the development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams. Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices, is expected. The role also includes preparing project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals, supporting the growth of electrical engineering service areas. Additionally, the position is expected to assist in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand the Power Delivery practice.

Requirements

• 3+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in substation design
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Holds Engineer-In-Training (EIT), Engineer Intern (EI), or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
• Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
• Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
• Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
• The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degrees are a plus
• Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus

Responsibilities
