About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Phoenix, Arizona office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Analyst with 3+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. This role involves the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale substation projects. The analyst will be responsible for developing design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics, block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams. Daily interaction and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and across Kimley-Horn offices are expected. The position also includes preparing project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals to support the growth of electrical engineering service areas. Additionally, the role involves assisting in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand the Power Delivery practice. Responsibilities include the development of reports and design documents such as electrical design plans, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses.

Requirements

• 3+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in substation design
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Holds Engineer-In-Training (EIT), Engineer Intern (EI), or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
• Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
• Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
• Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
• The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degrees are a plus
• Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
