Requirements

  • A technical diploma or degree in a relevant field (naval architecture, marine engineering, or electrical design) or a combination of education and experience.
  • Marine design experience in a related discipline, along with hands-on experience working with 3D product models for new ship construction and/or refit projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
  • Experience with CMPIC or similar cable management software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and ShipConstructor.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, along with effective project and deadline management skills.
  • Obtaining security clearance may be a requirement for this position, and as part of the process, the successful candidate will undergo a background check and personal reference verification.
  • Candidates must be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada to be eligible for this position and to successfully obtain the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to a shipyard or production environment would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of AVEVA, Cadmatic, Foran, or other ship design software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and modifying complex models of electrical systems, fabrication drawings, and drafting support according to project requirements for structural and distributive systems.
  • Updating drawings based on mark-ups and redlines.
  • Ensuring quality control for project work in line with Genoa’s quality management system.
  • Adhering to all regulatory standards, classification rules (such as DNV, Lloyds/GL), design guidelines, and client-specific requirements.
  • Interpreting technical, detailed design, and construction drawings for 3D model structural design and distributed systems.
  • Reviewing and coordinating vendor design documents to confirm compliance with design requirements.
  • Assisting with the preparation and implementation of Change Orders.
  • Using cable routing software to auto-route cables within the model.
  • Producing and verifying cable pull and termination sheets.
  • Taking on additional duties as required to support the team and organization.
