About The Position

Under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer, this role develops electrical engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and assessments for commercial facilities, including new construction and renovation. The designer works somewhat autonomously to utilize Revit MEP and other MEP-specific design and calculation software to create detailed designs for construction documents. They select electrical materials appropriate for facilities based on coordination with architects, engineers, plans, specifications, and code requirements. Occasionally, this role partners directly with clients to understand and define project scope, constraints, and design requirements, and provides support through construction completion. The designer ensures design products are complete, accurate, include the appropriate level of detail, align with client standards, and meet all relevant regulations and code requirements. They participate in and ensure QC/QA procedures are followed. This role also assists with construction administration oversight, including submittal review, RFI responses, and periodic site observations. The designer may review the work of others to check for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clients’ specifications, and redlines production plans for correction prior to engineer design review. They rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish non-routine tasks, and cooperate and coordinate with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities, providing support and assistance within the department as required.
