About The Position

At Lauren, we design and deliver the infrastructure that keeps communities powered and industries moving. From utility distribution upgrades to complex high-voltage projects, our work supports some of Western Canada’s most critical electrical systems, and we do it with a strong focus on safety, quality, and collaboration. We’re growing our Kelowna-based Electrical team and are looking for an Electrical Designer / Electrical Technician with a passion for high-voltage and utility projects. If you enjoy translating engineering concepts into clear, constructible designs and want to see your work make a real-world impact, this role is for you. As an Electrical Designer / Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering overhead and underground electrical distribution designs for utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and utility clients, you’ll develop accurate drawing packages that meet technical, regulatory, and constructability requirements. This role offers a strong mix of technical ownership, collaboration, and project exposure, with opportunities to grow your expertise in high-voltage and utility systems.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical and utility design
  • Experience preparing single-line diagrams, layouts, and construction drawings
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground installations
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and utility requirements
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on drawing accuracy and quality
  • Well-organized and able to manage multiple deliverables across projects
  • Clear communicator who works effectively with engineers, project managers, utilities, and field teams
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing within a multidisciplinary EPC environment

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility for, or active registration with, a provincial technologist association (e.g., ASTTBC) is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and maintain electrical distribution drawings, including: Single-line diagrams
  • Equipment and layout drawings
  • Grounding plans
  • Conduit and cable routing
  • Support the design of overhead and underground utility systems in accordance with CEC, CSA, and utility standards
  • Assist engineers with: Electrical calculations
  • Equipment selection
  • Material take-offs and drawing packages
  • Prepare complete drawing sets using AutoCAD and client or utility-specific standards
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, utilities, and construction teams to support efficient project delivery
  • Incorporate redlines, field markups, and as-built information into final documentation
  • Support permitting, regulatory submissions, and technical reviews
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to schedule and deliverable tracking
  • Follow Lauren’s quality, safety, and document control procedures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and workflows
