About The Position

Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Distribution Designer in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative seeking to fill this position on our engineering team which focuses on distributing electric service to members across four counties in west-central Indiana. The Distribution Designer is responsible for designing and staking single- and multi-phase overhead and underground electrical distribution lines. This position works in both office and field environments and may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Proficiency with various computer software required
  • Willingness and ability to work in both office and field environments
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Demonstrated professionalism and strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing according to Cooperative policies
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in related field preferred
  • Distribution line design and staking experience preferred
  • Knowledge of RUS design specifications and NESC requirements preferred
  • Experience with or training in GIS and/or AutoCad preferred
  • Positive customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilize GIS based staking software and GPS equipment to create staking sheets and work orders
  • Design electrical distribution requirements to meet member needs, system improvements, subdivisions, apartment complexes and special projects (i.e. bridges, roundabouts)
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for permits, joint use facilities, easements, and underground releases
  • Conduct field checks
  • Meet with new and existing members, builders, developers, electricians, and engineering firms to determine electrical power requirements
  • Ensure compliance with RUS design specifications and NESC requirements
