About The Position

Crusoe is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its electrical design team for modular data centers. The engineer will support each deployment from design through construction and commissioning, serving as the technical link between Crusoe’s design team, Crusoe Industries, construction partners, and Cloud customers. The role adapts modular designs to individual sites and incorporates field lessons into future design iterations. It combines facility engineering and product design, with work in both the design office and the field. The position is in-office in Denver, with anticipated travel of 40% for factory acceptance testing, supplier visits, and site deployments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of electrical design experience in data centers or other mission-critical facilities, with exposure to construction or commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and relevant NFPA and IEEE standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit and a power systems analysis tool such as ETAP or SKM.
  • Track record of taking designs through construction and troubleshooting field issues with practical, code-compliant solutions.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and move between customer discussions and detailed engineering.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience designing or installing modular, prefabricated, or edge data centers.
  • Understanding of how AI compute loads affect power distribution, from the utility transformer to the server rack.
  • Experience with BESS or alternative energy inputs, or with SCADA and EPMS.
  • Experience in a fast-paced design/build environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify electrical systems for modular data center deployments, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, UPS, generators, switchboards, and RPPs, meeting high-availability requirements.
  • Develop site-specific designs from schematic through construction-ready drawing sets, and review design-partner drawings, submittals, and shop drawings against the Basis of Design.
  • Audit short-circuit, protection, arc-flash, and load-flow studies.
  • Develop and maintain installation details for modular electrical systems and support R&D roadmaps for new technologies and configurations.
  • Resolve RFIs and Field Engineering Directives during construction, and support installation quality checks and factory witness testing.
  • Support commissioning Levels 1–5 with Crusoe’s commissioning team, reviewing procedures and results for technical accuracy.
  • Capture field lessons and incorporate them into design templates.
  • Promote electrical safety with Crusoe’s construction partners.
