About The Position

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing machines for manufacturing and product handling, modifying existing machinery for new model introductions, safety, or quality improvements. This role involves writing detailed equipment specifications for procurement, leading start-up and debug of new equipment, and managing projects from inception through completion. The engineer will also support and improve existing manufacturing processes and may be required to travel, train, and support DENSO group companies throughout North America and globally.

Requirements

  • BSEE, BSCE or BSCS degree from accredited institution
  • Experience programming PLC’s, Safety PLC’s and HMI's (Prefer AB brands)
  • Experience with hardware and safety circuit design for automated machines
  • 5 or more years designing and procuring equipment for manufacturing and assembly processes
  • A pro-active person who will seek out and implement additional projects that add value to the department and company
  • Innovative problem solver and capable to make decisions independently using data, statistical tools, and following the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, including cross functional teams and multiple engineering disciplines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of organizing, planning, and leading effective meetings.
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

Nice To Haves

  • Pneumatics or hydraulic fluid power system design and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of electrical sensors, vision and other machine sensing systems
  • Industrial robotics programming (Denso or Fanuc brands)
  • Integrating and programming servo drives (AB or Yaskawa)
  • C++, Visual Basic, SQL database or other programming languages
  • Experience with Ethernet networking such as IP configuration, Managed Switches, NAT, Network configuration and Troubleshooting
  • Experience in machine risk assessments and design standards (ISO 13849 or similar)
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
