About The Position
Garmin is seeking a full-time Design Engineering Intern for its Tucson, Arizona office. The intern will design and develop electronic circuits, equipment, systems, and/or products under the direction of a Design Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Team Leader. The role includes supervised circuit design and testing, verification of regulatory and quality compliance, preparation of test data and reports, and support for production and product testing. Interns are also expected to use and provide feedback on products in development when possible.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Composite GPA of at least 3.0.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing, and documentation.
Nice To Haves
- Composite GPA of at least 3.5.
- Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products.
Responsibilities
- Design, debug, and test digital, analog, RF, and/or ASIC circuits under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Follow test procedures to verify product compliance with applicable regulations and quality guidelines.
- Prepare test data and reports to assess whether proposed designs meet functional and performance specifications.
- Learn and use software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs.
- Support production facilities in manufacturing products under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Interface with Test Engineers and factory associates regarding product testing and production under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Perform cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Investigate the use of the latest components and technologies under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Complete design documentation in required formats under an engineer’s direct supervision.
- Integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of normal job responsibilities.
