About The Position

The Electrical Design and Test Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX. As an Electrical Design and Test Engineer in the Electrical, Data and Controls Section in the Operations and Test Department, you will perform the following duties in support of test facility operations and maintenance.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
  • Must have 2+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Understanding of electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency using computers and interfacing them with controls systems.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in electrical, electronic or power engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Installation of sensors and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and programming software.

Responsibilities

  • Support test electrical buildup and operations and produce required documentation.
  • Design and oversee the installation of low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Program PLCs or NI equipment, specify sensors, develop calibration curves.
  • Specify and initiate procurement of electrical and control system hardware.
  • Review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting.
  • Resolve corrective actions as they arise.
  • Develop and maintain electrical and control system operating procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
