The Electrical Controls Engineer will work from the Downers Grove, Illinois office and support projects from conception through commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 4–10 years of experience in electrical schematic design, PLC programming, HMI programming, VFD setup and parameterization, I/O setup and checkout, and PID control configuration and tuning.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical capability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to quality and completing tasks correctly the first time.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
  • Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE & ME, TIA Portal, WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, PowerFlex VFDs, Kinetix motion systems, Allen-Bradley and Siemens distributed I/O, Siemens G120 & S120 drives

Nice To Haves

  • Programming and control of high-speed motion systems.
  • PLC-based safety system development and programming.
  • Advanced VFD control, including coordination and registration.
  • Cascading and nested PID control configuration and tuning.
  • Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development experience.
  • UL 508A knowledge and SCCR certification.
  • Interest in mentoring or supervising junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects from initial kick-off through successful start-up and completion.
  • Specify electrical components and design control system architectures in accordance with industry standards.
  • Supervise drafting and design teams during schematic and layout development.
  • Oversee electrical control panel fabrication within an onsite fabrication facility.
  • Develop PLC and HMI programs.
  • Program VFD and servo motion systems.
  • Perform system testing and simulation.
  • Commission and start up industrial equipment in the field.
  • Provide electrical controls troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Travel overnight up to 25% as required.
