Electrical Controls Engineer
About The Position
S.G. Morris Co., a subsidiary of Applied Industrial Technologies, is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to provide technical expertise for the design of fluid power systems and customer system integrations. This role involves preparing schematics, test procedures, recommending components, and providing integral project management for these systems. The engineer will assist the sales force with technical support. S. G. Morris Co. (SGM) is a value-added distributor of fluid power components and a provider of engineered fluid power systems, specializing in the design and integration of fluid power, motion control, and lubrication solutions. Applied Industrial Technologies, the parent company, is the world's largest fluid power distributor with an extensive network and a large team of certified specialists.
Requirements
- Ability to work with AutoCAD LT for wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
- Fundamental understanding of UL, CE, CSA and NEC. Ability to read and understand these and other standards.
- Ability to read / understand technical drawings.
- PC proficiency with Word, Excel and other Office applications.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Degree in engineering, Electrical preferred
- Working knowledge of CAD
- Fluid Power Industry experience is a plus
- Understanding of mobile controls and components a plus
- Work independently and as part of a team.

- Organization skills, detailed oriented and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist sales force with technical expertise for the design of fluid power systems and customer system integrations.
- Prepare schematics and test procedures.
- Recommend components for fluid power systems.
- Provide integral project management for fluid power systems.
- Work with AutoCAD LT for wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
- Develop control scheme estimate quotes based on customer/salesmen descriptions.
- Select electrical components appropriate for various applications (mobile, industrial, environmental, etc.).
- Develop full electrical project schematics and component BOM to meet application requirements.
- Develop panel layouts, understanding layout flow for power and logic wiring isolation.
- Program PLCs and HMIs using RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000.
- Program HMIs using C_More programming software.
- Work with the shop to ensure wiring is in accordance with project requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues via phone, e-mail, and in person at customer facilities.
- Handle requests from multiple salesmen simultaneously.
- Coordinate projects with branch personnel, including sales and shop associates.
- Provide mechanical hands-on assistance on occasion.
