About The Position

Orbital is seeking an Electrical Construction Coordinator with Electrical Distribution Line experience to join the Electric Services Construction Coordinator Program. This role will support projects in Western Illinois, specifically in the Beardstown area. The primary responsibility is planning and coordinating construction activities for Electrical Distribution Line projects to ensure they are completed within schedule and budget constraints. Each coordinator is assigned to a specific project for an extended period, with assignments based on geographical location, skill level, and experience.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Must exhibit strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Must be competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe).
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to frequent construction sites.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test.
  • Subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 Years of relevant Transmission or Distribution Line Construction / Maintenance Experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Similar preferred
  • Experience in Commercial / Industrial T&D or Experience in Management Preferred
  • May have a background in structural, mechanical, or electrical (preferred) construction / engineering but must at a minimum be familiar with construction prints/drawings.
  • OSHA 10 hour and MEA specific training is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety oversight and ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Report safety compliance issues and incidents to the construction manager and supervisor.
  • Work with construction supervision and safety personnel to stop unsafe activities.
  • Participate in construction activity planning, pre-construction drawing reviews, and constructability reviews.
  • Inspect construction sites and complete pre-construction checklist tasks.
  • Ensure necessary permits and site/job-specific plans are in place, signed, and posted.
  • Inspect work during construction to ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies, specifications, drawings, and permits.
  • Manage communication with construction crews, client project managers, and engineering to resolve RFIs.
  • Identify field-purchased material needs and communicate them in writing.
  • Order materials and rental equipment as necessary and coordinate deliveries.
  • Inventory materials and identify shortages to prevent schedule delays.
  • Prepare Daily Log Reports detailing project progression, deficiencies, completed activities, safety incidents, and compliance.
  • Maintain redline construction drawing markups.
  • Complete weekly safety audits.
  • Communicate scope changes.
  • Confirm utility locates.
  • Sign crew timesheets.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
