About The Position

Intermountain Electronics (IE) designs and manufactures custom electrical power distribution, motor control, and process systems used throughout North America. Our equipment supports critical industries including data centers, mining, utilities, industrial manufacturing, energy, and oil & gas. We're currently hiring experienced Electrical Assembly Technicians for our Afternoon Shift at our Price, Utah facility. This is not an entry-level position. Previous hands-on electrical experience is required. At IE, you'll build complex electrical equipment that powers major industries across North America—all while enjoying the stability of working from one location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand electrical schematics/ drawings and specification charts and make direct application to project set up and final product.
  • Must be able to read, and understand production reports related to quality, and quantity.
  • Must be able to write NCR’s and comply with safety rules.
  • Must be able to establish productive and effective communication ties and relationships with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and staff.
  • Ability to compute electrical calculations – ohms, resistance, voltage, fusing capacity, etc.
  • Must be able to accurately follow schematics and electrical drawings and wire match such.
  • Ability to understand and know company operation costs and production costs and production overrun costs.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to analyze and understand project plan documents and specifications and successfully resolve practical problems and they may occur.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to use computer to log in time and job hours.
  • Must possess valid OSHA forklift and Overhead Crane certification or ability to obtain such.
  • Must comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Must operate and perform job duties in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Color Vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
  • Must be able to perform frequent heavy lifting and continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with hand tools, power tools, blueprint reading a plus but not required.
  • For individuals based in Colorado or Utah where the individual is pursuing a Journeymen’s license through a state authority, and where IE is recognized in the state as a licensed contractor, they must maintain a valid apprentice license to receive signed hours towards that requirement. [Not required for IL or OH based employees]

Responsibilities

  • Install and wire electrical components into custom power distribution equipment.
  • Assemble switchgear, panelboards, transformers, PLC systems, relays, breakers, and associated electrical devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Route, terminate, label, and test electrical wiring.
  • Perform modifications and repairs as required.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Perform continuity, Hi-Pot, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
  • Verify completed assemblies meet engineering specifications.
  • Identify defects and complete necessary corrections.
  • Support quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Safely operate and maintain wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, volt/ohm meters, Hi-Pot testers, power drills, hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and hoists.
  • Maintain tools and workstations in clean, safe operating condition.
  • Complete assigned projects safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all IE safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
