•$160,000 - $192,500•Onsite

About The Position

Scout Motors is seeking an Electrical Architect, Body Systems Lead to define and manage the electrical and electronic architecture for Body Systems and lead integration across related vehicle functions. The role bridges systems engineering, software development, electrical hardware, and cross-functional coordination to ensure functional integration and compliance with vehicle-level requirements. As the lead architect for the assigned Body Systems scope, this position addresses significant and unique technical issues, exercises independent judgment, and makes architecture decisions that may affect the broader function. The position owns architecture and integration for assigned Body Systems functions from concept through production and post-launch support. It provides technical direction across electrical, software, mechanical, controls, and validation interfaces; leads architecture alignment with other vehicle domains; and drives deliverables and validation readiness against program milestones. The role is based at Scout Motors’ corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, or Novi, Michigan, and requires 4–5 days per week in the office, as well as occasional travel for company events. This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for a base salary and annual performance bonus. The stated initial base salary range is $160,000–$192,500 per year. Scout Motors offers competitive compensation and benefits, including insurance, retirement contributions, paid time off, and paid parental leave.

Responsibilities

  • Define the advanced electrical architecture for Body Systems applications and develop the associated vehicle architecture data process.
  • Evaluate interdependencies and technical tradeoffs across functional, logical, and physical architectures; identify inconsistencies and develop solutions, including where precedent or complete information is unavailable.
  • Lead architecture alignment with Main System architects and related domains, ensuring consistency with vehicle-level requirements.
  • Coordinate across groups, communicate advanced technical information, and persuade stakeholders to reach architecture decisions.
  • Own system architecture and integration for assigned Body Systems functions from concept through production and post-launch support.
  • Provide technical direction across electrical, software, mechanical, controls, and validation interfaces; arbitrate cross-domain technical issues and guide teams toward solutions.
  • Lead architecture, integration, and validation readiness of assigned Body Systems functions according to program timing and milestones, including prototype builds, design verification (VFF), product validation (PVS), and vehicle launch gates.
  • Evaluate risks that may affect functional or program success, establish technical recovery direction when needed, and ensure software, hardware, interface, and test deliverables are decision-ready at each milestone.
  • Own end-to-end electrical and electronic architecture for the assigned Body Systems scope and ensure alignment with vehicle-level architecture and program objectives.
  • Lead development of functional, logical, and physical EE architecture with system engineers and domain experts, resolving significant cross-domain issues.
  • Define system-level requirements spanning electrical/electronic, software, and mechanical interfaces, and lead architecture design and integration at system and component levels.
  • Serve as technical liaison among hardware, applications, Body Systems teams, and core cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate across engineering and business groups throughout the system V-development lifecycle, from concept through launch; lead technical alignment in design reviews and cross-functional forums.
  • Own functional and non-functional architecture requirements, development alignment, validation readiness, and technical architecture decisions for the assigned Body Systems scope.
  • Apply expertise in software controls, electrical/electronic systems, and mechatronics development, testing, and validation methods to guide cross-domain solutions.
  • Lead development of component and system design inputs, functional and EOL specifications, detailed test methods, and system-level DFMEA, DV, and PV deliverables for complex mechatronic systems.
  • Guide the application of established engineering principles and the development of new technical approaches when needed.
