About The Position

The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for supporting the operation and repair and preventive maintenance of the facility's electrical distribution systems and equipment. This position works as part of the Maintenance Department and helps ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems while minimizing disruption to production. The Industrial Electrician will work with electrical systems and equipment including 480V three-phase, 120V AC, and 24V DC systems; transformers; switchgear; switchboards; motors; motor control centers; panelboards; emergency generators; water coolers; air compressors; grinders; UPS systems; control systems; PLCs; and AC/DC electronic drives. All work must be performed in accordance with applicable building codes, NEC requirements, federal regulations, and company safety standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics, and related technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, sources, feeders, and branch circuits.
  • Familiarity with the NEC and applicable federal codes.
  • Ability to recognize and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to run conduit and associated electrical work.
  • Desire to continue learning about electrical systems to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make sound day-to-day decisions using judgment and initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product and process issues.
  • Proficient in reading, writing and understanding English; bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of electrical experience.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing PLCs, control systems, and electronic drives.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable federal codes, building codes, & safety standards.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems & equipment to ensure safe & reliable operation.
  • Read and interpret electrical manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other technical specifications, including color-coded diagrams.
  • Ensure project specifications and requirements are met while completing assigned work efficiently and with minimal disruption to production.
  • Perform assigned electrical repairs, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Identify electrical sources, feeders, and branch circuits and safely isolate or shut down equipment to perform repairs without adversely affecting production.
  • Communicate effectively with shift personnel, process technicians, supervisors, and technical staff.
