About The Position

The Apprentice will assist a Licensed Electrician with the installation or maintenance and inspection of electrical systems and associated processes. This role requires regular attendance at assigned locations, which may include the A/Z office or other project sites. The apprentice will be involved in preparing sketches, measuring, cutting, bending, and installing electrical conduit, as well as overseeing or participating in wire installation. They will install control and distribution apparatus, connect power cables, and test the continuity of circuits using various instruments. The position also involves observing the functioning of installed equipment, performing routine duties as directed, and ensuring wiring is consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Redlining drawings and completing documentation with as-found and as-left conditions are also key responsibilities. Strict adherence to safety rules, quality standards, and site housekeeping is mandatory. The role includes interacting with co-workers in an attentive and courteous manner, and performing additional duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • 3 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship.
  • Be highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations.
  • Good documentation and record keeping.
  • Preparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports and material requests.
  • Understanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Appropriate state certification or license.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a Licensed Electrician with the installation or maintenance and inspection of electrical systems and associated processes.
  • Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow blueprints.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
  • Oversee or participate in wire installation with conduit and cable trays.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, and install grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by workplace leader, electrical panels, and standby generation.
  • Avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Redline drawings and complete documentation with as found and as left conditions.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality.
  • Participate in site housekeeping.
  • Interact with co-workers in an attentive courteous manner.
