About The Position

Atlas Roofing Shingles and Underlayment is seeking an Electrical and Controls Supervisor for Clinton, IA. This role involves supporting large capital projects, assembling and installing equipment, managing and improving production line equipment and control logic, overseeing manpower and machinery utilization, training employees on safety and hazards, planning and overseeing testing of electrical and instrumentation equipment, coordinating with related departments, preparing documentation and reports, developing standard work instructions, utilizing CMMS software and HMI platforms, supporting factory needs during all hours, troubleshooting communication systems, and managing electrical drawings.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge and trouble shooting skills in basic mechanics, power transmission, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, PLC systems, and preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Experience in using DC and AC motors and VF drives
  • Background in Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley preferred), computer systems and electronics
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and methodologies, possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills for controls, drives, and electrical systems
  • Experience with problem solving and trouble shooting skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 5+ years in industrial/manufacturing electrical systems
  • Preferred experience with Allen Bradley, Rockwell and Ignition

Responsibilities

  • Support large capital projects to include working with suppliers and contractors; ensuring compliance with technical specifications; managing external engineering resources; providing project status and change updates to management; training maintenance and operation departments specific to the project; and providing reports and documentation on projects.
  • Assemble, disassemble, or install mechanical, electrical/electronic equipment working from engineering drawings, field sketches, other related documents and verbal field instructions needed to perform assigned duties.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper job sequence and setting up of work.
  • Manage and improve productions line equipment, PLC programs, and control logic
  • Responsible for the proper and efficient utilization of manpower and machinery, including adequate training of new personnel.
  • Train employees in rules, regulations, codes, safe work habits and potential hazards while in the work environment.
  • Plan and oversee the testing of electrical and instrumentation equipment and devices on a scheduled basis.
  • Coordinate activities with any related departments; determine proper safety and quality control procedures are being followed.
  • Prepares documentation and reports for the maintenance department and maintain accurate records of equipment and repairs.
  • Develop, review, and update standard work instructions and schedules to optimize the department.
  • Utilize CMMS software, HMI platforms for design, modification, planning, scheduling and training.
  • Support any factory needs during all working and non-working hours.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair Ethernet, networking, and communications systems if needed.
  • Competency in PLC and PC-Based HMI / SCADA Design, Ignition, Programming and Implementation.
  • Manage and update electrical drawings related to assigned projects and yearly reviews of plant electrical drawings.
  • Backup PLC programs, maintain hard copy PLC logic programs, backup drvie settings
  • All other duties assigned.
