About The Position

Under direct supervision, this individual contributor role focuses on completing preventative maintenance and basic repair activities on Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and related components at customer sites. The position involves following established procedures and guidelines to develop field service knowledge and skills through on-the-job training and classroom instruction on Cummins-based curriculum. The role is based in Portland, OR, and will perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on BEVs and related systems at customer sites, conduct basic inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior technicians, maintain detailed records of service activities and repairs, adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies (including high-voltage safety), and participate in ongoing training and certifications on new and existing Cummins products and EV technologies. The technician is also responsible for maintaining their own tools and following established procedures.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Some knowledge of diagnostic software and electronic service tools.
  • Ability to follow procedures and accurately complete service documentation.
  • Willingness to learn EV systems, high-voltage safety, and diagnostic processes through on-the-job and classroom training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and related systems at customer sites.
