Electric Propulsion Systems Engineer II (Onsite)

RTX•East Hartford, CT

About The Position

The Electric Propulsion Systems Engineer II role is part of Pratt & Whitney Engineering’s Electric Propulsion System Engineering group, which architects, designs, and develops hybrid-electric propulsion systems. The group works across control-system disciplines and engineering areas to develop, integrate, and certify subsystems and hardware for civil and military customers. Its work spans the system life cycle, including technology development, requirements interpretation and decomposition, hardware implementation oversight, compliance testing, and resolution of field issues. Engineers collaborate with industry partners, suppliers, and customers on system concept definition, integration, prototype testing, product design, certification, validation, technical proposals, cost estimates, and trade-off analysis. The position focuses on aerospace electric powertrain systems. The selected candidate will begin in Pratt & Whitney’s Engineering Development Program, with three rotations of 12, 9, and 9 months, typically in distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The role is onsite in East Hartford, Connecticut, and may require travel up to 25% to support testing at Pratt & Whitney and partner sites in North America and Europe. U.S. citizenship is required because access to program information is restricted to U.S. citizens.
