About The Position

This position involves teaching individual applied study in an alternative (non-classical) curriculum for contemporary students, focusing on electric bass. Students receive 8 half-hour lessons per term (16 lessons per year). Additionally, the role includes providing 600 minutes of individual tuition and group instruction on a major instrument for two semesters.

Requirements

  • Masters of Music in Performance or professional experience equivalent to the level of a MM in Performance, with recognition by the music industry or professional peers; and/or Advanced Diploma, Graduate Diploma, or other advanced credential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in one on one studio instruction.
  • 5 years performance experience in Contemporary Commercial Music.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching.

  • Evidence of being a sought-after instructor, such as festival/competition clinician/adjudicator; guest masterclasses/workshops.
  • Evidence of student success (acceptance to university music programs, awards at competitions/festivals).
  • National/International performance profile as a soloist and/or collaborative and innovative interdisciplinary artist or composer-performer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual applied study in an alternative (non-classical) curriculum for contemporary students on electric bass.
  • Deliver 8 half-hour lessons per term (16 lessons per year) for MU396C-496C.
  • Provide 600 minutes of individual tuition and group instruction on a major instrument for two semesters for MUPS176/276D.
  • Coach students in their musical development.
