About The Position

The Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) is seeking applications for temporary/seasonal Election Warehouse Support/Election Worker positions. These roles are crucial for supporting election operations, including managing inventory, processing mail and ballots, and assembling equipment. While typically working a standard Monday through Friday schedule, these positions often require overtime, including evenings and weekends, especially as Election Day approaches. The ROV is a large, award-winning agency responsible for conducting elections and maintaining voter records for nearly 1.9 million registered voters in Orange County.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
  • Successfully pass a background check (employment history, professional references, criminal check, pre-employment physical).
  • Possession of a valid California drivers’ license, Class C, and a clean driving record while employed in this classification might be required by the date of appointment.
  • Driving records check consisting of a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check will be conducted to verify the clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Any level of experience in one or more of the described areas (Supply/Inventory Management, Mail Processing, Equipment Assembly).
  • Forklift operator certificate.
  • Computer literate (basic functions).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Schedule flexibility – including night shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Process, receive, verify, and inventory equipment and supplies before and after elections.
  • Load and unload materials to and from delivery trucks, with or without the use of a forklift/pallet jack.
  • Set up supply distribution points prior to the election and prepare the warehouse for election night activities.
  • Collect and prepare outgoing and incoming mail.
  • Collect and deliver official mail to/from the post office.
  • Process incoming and outgoing Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots through scanning equipment.
  • Load and run VBM ballots through the ballot extracting machine.
  • Inspect equipment visually and electronically and prepare it for elections.
  • Label equipment for inventory and tracking.
  • Conduct inventory and prepare equipment for storage after elections.
