About The Position
Poll Clerks make it possible for electors to vote on the election and advanced poll days. This role involves serving the community and being involved in the election process.
Requirements
- Attend a training session.
- Basic literacy skills (reading, writing and comprehension).
- Basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise impartiality and to deal with people who may be impatient.
- Ability to serve electors with disabilities.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to follow directions and adhere to standards and safety measures.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work long days.
Nice To Haves
- Previous local government election work experience.
Responsibilities
- Make it possible for electors to vote on election and advanced poll days.
- Serve electors with disabilities.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Follow directions and adhere to standards and safety measures.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Stand or sit close to exterior doors where there could be inclement weather.
- Check the exterior of the polling place.
- Complete detailed forms and paperwork with legible handwriting.
- Count ballots.
- Ensure that electors and candidates' representatives follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Benefits
- Pay rates: Registration Clerk: $371 per day, Election Official: $350 per day, Greeter: $280 per day, Ballot Box Attendant: $280 per day.
