This position assists an Election Director in conducting elections in compliance with federal, State and local laws, regulations and statutes. The role involves overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a local election office, including voter registration, absentee and provisional balloting, Same Day Registration, redistricting, candidate filing, ballot preparation, voting equipment management, and polling place staffing. The position also involves supervising election office support staff, volunteers, and election judges, and conducting training sessions. The Election Deputy Director I recommends and implements policies and procedures, reviews legislation impacting elections, and prepares reports. They stay informed about technological advancements in election management and assist with the implementation of new voting systems. The role requires attendance at all Early Voting and Election Day activities, ensuring adherence to security procedures, and assuming the duties of the Election Director in their absence. Additional responsibilities may include budget preparation, procurement, coordinating services with local jurisdictions, managing insurance and security specifications, overseeing social media and the election office website, and conducting risk assessments and continuity of operation plans.
