About The Position

KIPP NYC Public Schools is seeking dedicated teachers who can inspire and educate students, fostering both academic and character development. The role involves making a college preparatory education relevant and engaging for students, preparing them for future success. KIPP NYC is a network of 18 free, public charter schools across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, committed to creating joyful, academically excellent schools. They serve over 9,400 students and support 4,700 alumni through their KIPP Forward program, which assists alumni in college, career, and life. The organization employs over 1,100 team members dedicated to its mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and family
  • Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within our KIPP NYC communities

  • At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred
  • New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that combines the school’s standards and the New York State standards
  • Teaching students in a high-quality, exciting way
  • Committing to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of teachers
  • Using data to drive decisions
  • Constantly assessing student progress and communicating results to families and colleagues
  • Providing individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance
  • Modeling KIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.
