About The Position

Associate Instructors join SEO’s community of educators to implement a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum for motivated high school students. Using SEO’s original curriculum and a student-centered approach, they support Scholars’ journeys toward competitive college and beyond by coaching and facilitating learning. Associates co-teach with Instructors, facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini-lessons, organize small-group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. They do not have grading responsibilities. This seasonal role is based on-site at an SEO program site in San Francisco. The schedule is Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., from January 30 through May 8, with a 50-minute lunch. Associates may work up to eight hours per week: approximately six standard on-site hours and up to two flex hours for preparation and other teacher work, which can be completed asynchronously during the week. Future opportunities may be available in summer or fall semesters. Courses include 10th-grade ELA, “Critical Media Analysis,” and 9th-grade ELA, “Finding Your Voice: Public Issues and Perspectives.” The position pays $40 per hour and is benefits-ineligible.
