About The Position

SEO’s ELA Associate Instructor joins a community of educators implementing a rigorous college-preparation curriculum for motivated high school students in SEO Scholars. Instructors use SEO’s original curriculum and a student-centered approach, serving as coaches and facilitators who help Scholars build understanding and skills. They co-teach alongside Instructors, facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini-lessons, organize small-group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Associate Instructors do not have grading responsibilities. SEO Miami is a bichronous program, with lesson instruction conducted 100% online through Zoom. Placement depends on the instructor’s self-reported proficiency and demo lesson. Courses offered are 9th Grade: Finding Your Voice: Public Issues and Perspectives; 10th Grade: Critical Media Analysis; and 11th Grade: Supplemental Essay Writing. New instructional staff complete 10 hours of self-guided asynchronous training before programming begins. Instructor orientation takes place via Zoom during the week of February 8, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Synchronous online instruction is scheduled for February 20, February 27, March 6, March 20, April 3, April 10, April 17, May 1, May 8, and May 15. The role is remote and part-time seasonal, based in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The schedule is 8:45 a.m.–2:15 p.m. on selected Saturdays, with up to 10 hours of programming per week.
