About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year at Lincoln High School. The school strives to ensure that every student receives an education that will prepare them for their future by meeting them where they are at. The District supports its staff through hands-on coaching and mentoring, specialized instructional coaching, and year-round professional development.

Requirements

  • Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.
  • At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior needs.
  • Experience with behavior management.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
  • Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
  • Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
  • Works with students in schools and on community outings.
  • Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
  • Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
  • Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
  • Assists with the supervision of students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
  • Assists teacher in identifying student needs.
  • Provides tutorial assistance for students in all classes.
  • Prepares instruction and supplementary materials.
  • Keeps records.
  • Checks papers, workbooks, homework and tests.
  • Assists students with makeup work.
  • Maintains student confidentiality.
  • Assists teachers in supervising students in the classroom.
  • May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
