About The Position

The EKT Inclusion Facilitator works under the supervision of the EKT Teacher and the SUN Site Manager to support the Early Kindergarten Transition Program. This role involves working closely with small groups and individual students during a two-week summer program at the SUN Community School. The program aims to provide children and families with a solid foundation for a successful kindergarten experience, focusing on academics, social-emotional learning (SEL), play, arts, music, exploration, and friendship in an inclusive environment. Additionally, the Inclusion Facilitator will manage incoming IFSP and IEP plans, facilitate family communication, and train staff on inclusion strategies to support EKT students. SUN Community Schools are social service, neighborhood hubs that support and empower students, families, and communities by connecting them with resources through culturally specific advocacy, high-quality programming, and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • State of Oregon TSPC teaching license with Special Education endorsement, highly qualified status.
  • Current first-aid card.
  • Experience in planning and implementing professional development.
  • MANDT- Required
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to effectively follow both written and oral directions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, families, and students.
  • Experience with/or confident with public speaking
  • Must be able to organize work, take initiative, follow through, and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in one or more of the following is preferred: Spanish, Russian, Somali, Burmese or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities

  • Creating a welcoming, engaging, and joyful kindergarten transition program
  • Support in recruitment and family communication
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students
  • Attend all onboarding and training sessions before the program starts
  • Attend the family orientation meeting in July
  • Reviews of all incoming IFSP/IEP plans for EKT students
  • Communicates with families to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition to the program
  • Plans, develops, and supports inclusion strategies across the program
  • Works closely with the EKT Coordinator for alignment
  • Communicate with teachers about enrollment and student needs
  • Plans for an inclusion strategy for professional learning for EKT staff
  • Problem-solves at the site level during programming
  • Coordinate with the feeding team
  • Observes and consults in the classroom
  • Organizes and tracks inclusion supports
  • Other duties assigned by the Site Manager
