EKG Technician - Rotating Shifts - Full-Time Flex
About The Position
Responsible for assisting with diagnostic tests to using electrocardiograms to capture patient heart rhythm and rate. This role involves performing EKG tracings for Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals and ED triage, transferring EKGs to Powerchart, creating orders in Powerchart for outpatient EKGs, and signing as performed by EKG in Powerchart. The technician will also clean and stock EKG machines for critical care units, perform pacemaker device interrogations in the ED, and manage the unmatched EKG list in Powerchart. Additionally, the role requires responding to STAT, RTT, and timed EKGs per department policy, demonstrating skills and knowledge of growth and development, and the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs and provide the care needed. The technician must perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices, and report any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations to their supervisor in a timely manner. Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School graduate or its equivalent
- Basic CCU in-service and medical terminology
- Knowledge of EKG machine program format
- Knowledge of office equipment and machines
- Ability to learn departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to be efficient and accurate
- Ability to enter and retrieve information on computer
- Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
- Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to assist with basic EKG training for other departments
- Ability to use/wear communication devices daily as required
- Yearly EKG competency and critical results review w/certificate of completion
- BEAT class training upon hire/transfer certificate of completion
- CPR w/AED certification (2years)
