About The Position

Christie Clinic’s Laboratory department is hiring a full-time EKG Technician/Phlebotomist at its Windsor clinic in Champaign, Illinois. The position has varied hours between Monday and Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Occasional travel to other clinics may be required to support the laboratory department; mileage is reimbursed after submission to a supervisor.

The technician performs phlebotomy, EKG testing, and related patient examinations according to established standards and practices. Work takes place in a laboratory setting, with possible exposure to communicable diseases and electrical hazards. Irregular hours may be required.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy and EKG course, or one year of experience as a substitute.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to meet physical demands that include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Hearing within or correctable to the normal range, vision correctable to 20/20, and manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture for patients of all age groups.
• Perform EKGs.
• Conduct laboratory safety audits.
• Manage inventory of general laboratory supplies.
• Maintain laboratory records and files.
• Perform related work as required.
• Train new personnel when needed.
• Travel to other laboratory locations when needed.
