About The Position

The Mainline / TQM Operations Group at TC Energy is seeking a Skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join their office in Mascouche, QB. This EIC Controls Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment, including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment such as gas turbines, generators, boilers, fuel gas compressors, and PLC & DCS control systems. The role requires adherence to operational needs and compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The technician will also be expected to perform tasks from other disciplines. The regular work schedule is a bi-weekly rotation: Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day, Friday off; Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours on Friday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, plus minimum completion of a second year of trades program or 2 years of technical training
  • 2 years of related Industry experience
  • Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Eager willingness to learn evolving technology
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions
  • Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Industrial Electrician certification
  • 5 years of years of related Industry experience
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and SAP experience
  • Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
  • Previous experience with industrial gas turbines or Aviation Turbines
  • A solid understanding of PLC systems for troubleshooting purposes

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
  • Conduct routine regular maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of MCC’s and low voltage switch gear
  • Troubleshoot, test, & maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas detection systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLC’s & control systems
  • Install & configure software in control systems
  • Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
  • Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties
  • Maintain core operational task qualifications
