About The Position

The EIC Engineer III/IV leads and manages electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering activities for industrial, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects. This role provides technical leadership throughout all project phases, including design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client management. Responsibilities include overseeing project execution, ensuring technical quality, mentoring engineering staff, supporting business development and proposals, and driving process improvements. The position is accountable for delivering successful projects that meet client expectations, safety standards, budget targets, and schedule commitments.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or another industry-related field required.
• Minimum seven (7) years of industry-related experience.
• Strong technical, leadership, mentoring, and supervisory skills.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, procedures, industry standards, and best practices related to electrical power systems, instrumentation, automation, and controls.
• Strong project leadership and client relationship management abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong technical writing and specification development capabilities.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including IEEE, NFPA, ISA, NEMA, API, and ANSI standards.
• MV and LV power distribution design.
• Protective relaying and protection coordination.
• Power system modeling software experience (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
• Instrumentation specification and application.
• Industrial networking and communications.
• Process control system architecture development.
• Arc flash and electrical safety analysis.
• Construction support and commissioning experience.
• Industrial and utility facility design experience.

• Licensure as a Professional Engineer Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for all EIC engineering deliverables on assigned projects.
• Serve as Lead EIC Engineer for multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Ensure the successful execution and coordination of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and protection systems engineering activities.
• Provide engineering direction and make final technical decisions within the EIC scope of work.
• Act as Engineer of Record (EOR), when required, for project deliverables.
• Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, studies, and procurement packages.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
• Lead all electrical deliverables incorporating information from vendor documentation, power system studies, electrical equipment specifications, and construction requirements.
• Develop and review power system studies and deliverables: Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) power distribution systems, Single-line diagrams, Electrical equipment layouts, Cable schedules and cable routing, Grounding and bonding systems, Lighting systems, Motor control center (MCC) designs, Standby and emergency power systems, Variable frequency drive (VFD) applications.
• Lead electrical system analysis including: Load flow studies, Short circuit studies, Motor starting studies, Protective device coordination studies, Arc flash hazard analysis, Harmonic analysis.
• Develop equipment specifications, RFQ packages, bid evaluations, and technical recommendations.
• Coordinate utility interconnection requirements and power system integration activities.
• Lead instrumentation and controls engineering efforts for industrial and utility facilities as required.
• Develop and review: Instrument indexes, Instrument data sheets, Instrument installation details, Loop drawings, Wiring diagrams, Cause-and-effect matrices, Control narratives, Control system architecture drawings, Instrument location plans.
• Support development and review of P&IDs to ensure instrumentation and control requirements are properly incorporated.
• Define process measurement strategies including pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and specialty instrumentation applications.
• Develop and review control philosophies and operational strategies.
• Support specification and selection of field instrumentation and control devices.
• Coordinate instrument procurement and vendor package integration.
• Serve as primary client contact for EIC engineering activities.
• Lead project kickoff meetings, technical reviews, and client coordination meetings.
• Develop project scopes, man-hour estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and technical performance.
• Identify and mitigate project risks.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical sales efforts.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through successful project delivery.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineers, designers, and technical staff.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical development of team members.
• Promote engineering excellence and consistency within the EIC organization.
• Help establish and improve department standards, design guides, and engineering procedures.
• Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance reviews of engineering deliverables.
