About The Position

QuantumScape is seeking a practical, collaborative EHSS Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for strengthening safety, environmental, sustainability, and training programs within a fast-paced R&D and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working across departments to ensure safe and compliant daily operations. Success requires strong technical judgment, personal integrity, sound organization, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, driving corrective actions, supporting employees, and maintaining a clean, safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in chemistry, engineering, or related fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills with all levels of personnel.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work under general supervision.
  • Ability to deal with confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Must demonstrate personal integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-changing environment with Facilities, Hardware, and R&D leaders, and staffing at all levels.
  • Approach complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources, consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems, and mastering unfamiliar information, tasks, and situations quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of EHSS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in or lead regular area inspections, document corrective actions, and track to closure.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver EHSS training.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure safety and compliance objectives are met and the workplace remains clean, safe, and healthy.
  • Coordinate vendors to perform onsite tasks.
  • Monitor hazardous waste handling and storage.
  • Take effective steps to ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Conduct and document regular inspections of safety equipment. Restock safety supplies as needed.
  • May participate in regulatory inspections or assist in investigation and preparation of reports on injuries.
  • Support development and completion of environmental/sustainability metrics.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee activities.
  • Communicate task completion status both verbally and in writing.
