About The Position

QuantumScape is seeking a hands-on senior level EHSS manager to join their EHSS team. This role will lead the EHSS team in managing EHS operations on a day-to-day basis, ensuring regulatory requirements and permit conditions are met, while also considering the impact of current decisions on future planning flexibility. The ideal candidate will build trust across all levels, demonstrating integrity and a customer-focused approach to implementing EHSS programs, and will take personal accountability for the team's safety.

Requirements

  • BS in chemistry or engineering field
  • 7-10 Years of work experience in EHS
  • Strong environmental experience, including hazardous materials and waste management, air emissions, wastewater, and sustainability
  • Highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong data management and analysis skills
  • Strong people skills as the position will be required to influence people
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • MS in chemistry or engineering field
  • CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification
  • Experience working within battery or automotive manufacturing teams
  • Experience with environmental audits, ISO 14000, TSCA compliance, IATA, BAAQMD compliance, waste minimization, sustainability

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of EHSS professionals to develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage all aspects of environmental programs, including ensuring permit requirements are met, overseeing chemical storage and handling, serving as a technical resource for chemical hazard evaluation, ensuring proper waste and recyclable material management, interfacing with regulators, managing TSCA compliance for chemicals, and assisting in pollution prevention activities.
  • Complete audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, document any actions needed and follow through to completion.
  • Ensure incidents are investigated and proper follow-up actions are completed.
  • Perform risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
  • Manage safety and environmental/sustainability metrics.
  • Provide input in equipment design and installation projects in EHS, ensuring safety and environmental compliance during construction projects.
  • Lead site EHSS committees and interface with regulatory personnel.
  • Serve as the primary contact for incident response, investigation, and resolution.
  • Lead the site Emergency Response Team.
  • Evaluate proposed EHSS compliance laws and regulations to determine applicability and impact to current programs and operations.
