About The Position

The EHS Technician is a hands-on role dedicated to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally conscious workplace during evening operations. This individual serves as the primary safety point of contact for the second shift, ensuring that safety principles are integrated into every task and that all employees return home safely. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who spends the majority of their time on the production floor, identifying hazards before they become incidents.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in a safety-focused role.
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour General Industry certification preferred. First Aid/CPR/AED certification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety, machine guarding standards, and Hazard Communication (SDS).
  • Ability to speak confidently in front of groups and interact professionally with all levels of production staff.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (80–90% of the shift) and lift up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST).
  • Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
  • Experience in developing and implementing behavior-based safety programs.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety walks to ensure compliance with PPE policies, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Actively identify and mitigate physical and environmental hazards. Support the "Safety as a Principle" culture by coaching employees on safe behaviors in real-time.
  • Lead or assist in the initial investigation of any near-misses or injuries occurring on the 2nd shift. Gather statements, secure the scene, and assist in root-cause analysis.
  • Deliver safety orientations for new hires or temporary staff starting on the evening shift. Conduct "Toolbox Talks" or specialized training on topics like chemical handling or fall protection.
  • Serve as a lead member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) for the shift, overseeing evacuations, medical first aid, or spill response if necessary.
  • Monitor waste streams (hazardous and non-hazardous), ensure proper labeling of containers, and maintain secondary containment areas.
  • Perform routine inspections of fire extinguishers, eye-wash stations, ladders, and powered industrial trucks (PIT).
